Traditional Mokoro Safaris

Experience the timeless tranquility of the delta aboard a traditional mokoro, the dugout canoe that has navigated these waters for centuries. Silently gliding through shallow channels and lily-covered lagoons, mokoro excursions offer unparalleled opportunities for wildlife photography and bird watching. Expert polers guide these peaceful journeys through papyrus forests and over submerged floodplains, providing intimate encounters with the smaller inhabitants of the delta while maintaining the authentic character that distinguishes Camp Okavango from other delta camps.

Boat Safaris

Modern aluminum boats equipped with comfortable seating and shade canopies explore the deeper channels and broader lagoons surrounding Camp Okavango. These motorized excursions cover greater distances than mokoro trips, accessing remote areas where hippo pods congregate and elephants cross between islands. Skilled guides navigate the ever-changing waterways while sharing insights about the delta's ecology, making these boat safaris essential experiences for guests at Okavango Delta camps seeking comprehensive exploration.

Wildlife Walking Safaris

Guided walks on neighboring islands offer terrestrial perspectives of the delta ecosystem, tracking larger mammals that inhabit these seasonal and permanent islands. Led by armed professional guides in small groups, these walks reveal animal tracks, identify medicinal plants, and occasionally encounter elephants, buffalo, and various antelope species. The walking safaris from Camp Okavango provide the perfect complement to water activities, creating a well-rounded safari experience that sets premium delta camps apart.
