Mokoro Safaris

Your poler stands at the stern, pushing rhythmically with a ngashi pole, navigating reed-lined corridors where elephants wade belly-deep and painted reed frogs orchestrate dawn symphonies. This is travel at nature's pace—unhurried, contemplative, and profoundly connected to the pulse of the wetlands. As you drift past a motionless crocodile or beneath the watchful gaze of a fish eagle, you understand why this silent approach reveals the delta's secrets that motorized craft could never unveil.

Game Drives

In the Okavango Delta, game drives transform from mere wildlife viewing into life-changing encounters that redefine your understanding of the natural world. Your experienced guide navigates off the beaten track, reading invisible signs that lead to heart-stopping moments. The specially designed vehicle allows you to cover vast territories—from palm-studded islands to open floodplains—each biome harboring its own cast of characters.

While at Camp Khwai Night drives are also available.

Walking Safaris

Walking safaris in the Okavango strip away the barrier between observer and observed, transforming you from spectator to participant in the wilderness narrative. Your guide shares decades of bushcraft knowledge: how to approach a herds with the wind in your favor, why certain trees bear scars from elephant tusks, what the alarm calls of different birds reveal about hidden gems in the wilderness.

Night Drives

Set in the heart of the Khwai River floodplain, these guided adventures reveal a completely different side of Botswana, as elusive nocturnal animals emerge and the sounds of the wilderness come alive. With expert guides and prime access, you’ll have the chance to spot the rarer night sightings sometimes missed during the day time.

A Typical Itinerary for this Safari Package

Day 1: Start your Okavango Adventure

You will be met at Maun Airport and introduced to your pilot, before boarding a light aircraft flight, which can have some really spectacular views along the way, into the inner Okavango Delta, where you will find Delta Camp. On your arrival, you will be welcomed by your guide and shown around the camp. After a short briefing, you then set out by mokoro, and begin exploring the Delta. You would return back to camp by sunset, to relax with a warm shower and some dinner, served at around 7pm. End the night by cozying by the fire, whilst taking in the natural sounds of the Okavango around you, as your guide shares stories of days long past.

Day 2&3: Experience Delta Camp

Start your day on safari with an early wakeup at around 05:30 for some coffee/tea and snacks, before departing on your morning activity with your private guide. You then return to camp around 9am for a fully cooked breakfast being prepared and fuel up for the day ahead. Spend the next few hours around camp while the hottest part of the day passes by. Enjoy the scenery of the hippo lagoon in front of you or sit back and read a book from the main areas library. After lunch is served, you then depart for another adventure during the afternoon, once again returning to camp around sunset for another shower and dinner under the Botswana night sky.

Day 4: To the Khwai Concession

After a final morning activity exploring the Delta, say goodbye to Delta Camp as you depart by another flight transfer out of the inner Okavango Delta and to the Khwai Concession. On arrival, you will have your first glimpse of the area on the road transfer to Camp Khwai. Enjoy some relaxation time in camp before lunch is served and you depart for your afternoon activity into the riverine, forested Khwai area. You then return in the late afternoon for a hot shower and some dinner under another African sunset.

Day 5&6: Exploring Khwai

Start your day with an early wakeup at around 05:30 for some coffee/tea and snacks, before departing on your morning activity. You then return to camp around 9am for a fully cooked breakfast being prepared and fuel up for the day ahead. Spend the next few hours around camp, while the hottest part of the day passes by. After lunch is served, you then depart for another adventure during the afternoon, once again returning to camp around sunset for another shower and dinner under the Botswana night sky. During your evenings, you would typically have the option to head out with your guide on a night drive, in search of the more elusive nocturnal animals that frequent the area.

Day 7: End your Safari

After a last morning of game viewing at Camp Khwai, you will head out to the Khwai Concession Airstrip via road. From here, you will have a final flight transfer take you out of Khwai for a return to Maun Airport, where you will end the safari.
